Over the course of five working days we performed a large landscape, and site work job. After surveying the work to be completed we were contracted by Hampden Homebuyers to do an extensive tree removal, and site work project. A large row of hemlock trees were removed first off, then we took down a maple tree in the front yard. After that we filled a dumpster with debris from the repairs being made inside the home with our skidsteer allowing us access to the back yard. Once in the back there were seven trees of varying sizes and level of skill required to remove that we took care of, one of which was about 5′ around at the base, and another two were over the home. That being done we moved on to the other side of the house where a spruce tree was growing right next to the house and a row of bittersweet entangled forsythia bushes were growing, we removed all of the said foliage. The entire time the tree cutting was taking place brush chipping was underway to make for a clean workspace. Also at the same time as the tree cutting in the front we were using our skidsteer to grade the back yard so as to create more flat and useable yardage. When it was all said and done all the unsightly, unsafe, and dangerously close to the home trees were removed and the yard was transformed into something much more usable.

Last Friday the crew headed out to Westborough MA for one of the purchases of our angies list promotion. We went to do a full day of tree service as the coupon states. The customer walked us through what they wanted done and we let her know it would surely take more than one day; most likely two or a little more. She decided to just have us take care of the three most prudent trees located in the front yard as we told her that would likely take the full day in and of itself. Jason headed up in the bucket truck while Dan, Chad and I began prepping for the day i.e. setting up ropes & rigging, sharpening and gassing up saws, and getting out the equipment we would need straight away. After Jason got enough down for a steady round of brush chipping we fired up the chipper and cleared up the ground. We proceeded to work in that fashion throughout the day as we usually do. Jason will de-limb the trees moving from tree to tree allowing us to clean up one pile as he begins the next thus making it so by the time he starts chunking down the bigger wood we have already gotten all the chipping done. After we got all the heavy wood down we processed everything and loaded up the dump truck, then we stacked what wouldn’t fit. I had explained to our customer at the beginning of the day that in order to get her the most bang for her buck it’d be best for us to remain there working all day and take one load of wood out at the end since she lives roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes from our headquarters. When we finished she was pleased with all we had accomplished in the day that the coupon covered and she hired us back for another day.

Thursday we went to a customers weekend home on a lake in Brookfield MA to clean up a few trees in their back yard, and remove two trees in their front. The truck couldn’t make it around to the back yard so Jason suited up with his climbing gear and made his way up the tree to prune the dead and hanging branches out of a tree that was over the customers deck. While Jason was climbing I got in the bucket truck and removed one of the two oak trees in front yard that was partially hanging over the house and covered the driveway in acorns. At the same time Chad and Dan were using the pole saw to remove some dead branches in the back that were accessible from the ground. At around the same time we all convened on the ground and chipped the brush that Chad and Dan weren’t able to get to before Jason and I got out of the trees. Then Jason pieced down the second tree over the house and service lines, by midday we had all the trees down and the brush was all cleaned then we all loaded the heavy wood into the one ton dump truck with Matt and Roger. Together we were able to get it all taken care of very quickly and efficiently.

Large pine tree removal in South Hadley MA

On the first half of Tuesday and most of Wednesday we were out in South Hadley executing another massive tree removal. The tree was a roughly 90 foot tall pine tree. Our contract was through angies list off of one of our promotions where you can have our crew and equipment out for a full day. We looked at the work and told the customer that even if it ran over a little we would make sure it was done. The first day we were there Jason went up the tree the full length of our boom(~65′) then he set up ropes and rigging to lower the ~25′ tall top safely. Unfortunately the wind from the coming storm got progressively worse and by the point where we’d be dropping the top it was just too fierce for us to be able to safely execute the drop. We packed up everything and came back the following morning and wrapped everything up. The top had grown out into two shoots so we lowered the first and processed it to make room to lower the second. Then we pulled the peg(tree trunk) over and loaded the pieces into our dump truck. In the end it barely took more than the 8 hours the coupon was good for.

Tree removal close to a home in Brimfield MA

This past Friday Roger, Jason, and I went to Brimfield MA to remove a tree less than 10 feet from the corner of our customers home and hot tub. The job was one we had bid almost six months ago, and when the customer called we did not question the time from estimate day to execution day. Although technically our proposals expire after one month we always honor our prices unless they include materials whose prices fluctuate or the work worsens in nature from the time at which the estimate was performed. Jason went up and cut the branches off and while he was chunking down the larger pieces from the top down Roger and I stacked all the brush and we were able to perform the brush chipping before Jason got all the heavier wood down. We then processed and loaded all the wood into our dump truck aside from what the customer wanted to keep. All in all the whole tree removal took less than three hours to execute even with the close proximity to the home. Between our crew and equipment we are able to get very skilled jobs taken care of very efficiently, and with a very high level of quality.

Yard clean up in Wilbraham MA

the state of both sides of the driveway down its entirety before we were through

This past Tuesday we were in Wilbraham MA performing an extensive yardwork job. All down both sides of the customers 125′ long driveway there were broken, dead, and vine entangled trees. The customer had asked us to clean back into the woods 15′ on both sides. We were able to get up almost the entirety of the drive before the day was through, as we were contracted through angies list on our full day promotion that was all that would be getting done. However the customer was so impressed with our speedy brush chipping and quick methods of clean up, he asked us to come back for another day to finish the clean up and perform a large tree removal. I honored the promo rate on angies list and the next free day on the schedule is his.

3 severly damaged oak tree removal right next to the house in Springfield MA

For the past one and a half days the crew has been out in Springfield MA performing yet another skilled tree removal. There were three very badly damaged oak tree’s close to the investment property of one of our long time clients Hampden Homebuyers. For over a year now we have been the exclusive tree company for them as they acquire numerous homes per month with a good majority of them needing some landscape work, some as small as a retaining wall, and some as large as full scale yard renovations. Jason went up in the bucket and pieced the trees from the top down ensuring no damage was incurred to the home. Then we removed a few overgrown ornamentals that weren’t properly cared for over the years, and performed a tree pruning on two Scotch Pines that were still in good health just in need of some sprucing up. If you look in the background of the before and after pictures you can see three of the ornamentals that were removed as well as the oaks. We got all the large wood out in dump truck loads, and proceeded to commence brush chipping to get rid of all the smaller brush. The job went by smoothly and as always our friends over at Hampden Homebuyers were impressed and ready to set us on to the next project.

Long line of brush chipping in Monson MA

Roger(left) and Jason(right) chipping brush piles

Today we did a spring clean up type job. A gentlemen referred to us by a friend hired us for some brush chipping, he had stacked piles of brush down both sides of his roughly 225 foot long driveway. He owns quite a bit of land so the piles were quite large, thankfully however the last company he worked with him showed him how to properly stack brush when it is to be chipped-as described in my previous post “basic yard clean up in Granby MA”. With it being stacked that way although there was a good amount of it the time and effort involved was as minimal as is possible with our line of work. We were able to give him a fair price on the work just as the last company he had come in did. While we were there we also did some tree pruning, he had 4 trees down the driveway that had hanging branches dangling right over his driveway. Jason went up in the bucket truck to get the branches down quickly and safely.

Basic yard clean up in Granby MA

Image

the yard after the foliage had been pushed back

Last Friday Roger, Jason, and myself did a small clean up out in Granby. We cleared out a sizable portion of unwanted shrubbery and broken branches as well aggressive vines. The back yard had been starting to get taken over by the foliage and the customer wanted to nip it in the bud quite literally. In a few hours we were able to get all of it cut out chipped and for larger wood cut and removed. The brush chipping as usual took almost no time, the chipping always goes by very quickly as long as the brush is stacked neatly. The best way to stack brush is large wood on the bottom, small on top, and all the buts(larger ends) facing wherever the chipper can be easily pulled to. So if you ever have any brush you plan on having chipped by a tree company stack it in that fashion and the price will be substantially less than if it is all tangled with no rhyme or reason to it.
